DBN ceases lending to SMEs

Dec 09 2015

DBN will not consider loan applications from enterprises or business projects with a turnover of less than N$ 10 million per annum.

With effect from 1 November 2015, the Development Bank of Namibia Limited will not consider loan applications from enterprises or business projects with a turnover of less than N$10 million per annum or a staff complement of between 31 and 100 employees.

The decision is prompted by growing capacity in the field of SME lending, particularly the emergence of the SME Bank.

The Bank will now focus on larger enterprises particularly in the key sectors and strategic intervention areas which are aligned to the Fourth National Development Plan (NDP4) and Growth at Home Strategy.

The SME Bank is now charged with the responsibility of financing and supporting SMEs.

Current SME clients who have received finance from the Development Bank of Namibia will remain with the Bank.
