Project Preparation consists of all the work necessary to ensure that proposed projects with potentially high development impacts are well planned, structured and packaged for successful financing and implementation. The process ensures the identification and elimination of key risks at the earliest possible time and maximises development opportunities by ensuring that projects are well conceived and planned.
DBN’s Project Preparation Fund (PPF) focuses on providing last-mile project preparation funding for high development impact projects that the promoter has substantially planned.
With strong interest for PPF support, DBN has an available pipeline of projects and there has not yet been the need to actively source projects. Greater activity with the PPF has also created more interest for support on other projects, and so in the near term it is not required for DBN to actively source projects. However, given the developmental value of PPF, DBN is framing the business generation activities required to identify strategic significant projects.
Partnership with the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) has strengthened PPF capacity and practices.
